Lighting for high ceilings: scale and composition

A room with high ceilings gives lighting room to become part of the architecture. The key is to connect the height of the room with the places where people sit, work and gather.

Bring the light closer to the activity

A pendant above a dining table can create an intimate zone within a tall room. Plan its position around the table and seated sightlines. If the lamp hangs in an open circulation area, consider clear headroom and movement through the space separately.

Use repeated shapes to create a composition

A group of Eternal Moonlight pendants can draw the eye through the room. The Ø22 cm and Ø32 cm shades offer two scales to work with. A shared hanging height gives a calmer line; staggered heights can emphasise the room's vertical proportions. Sketch the arrangement from the main viewing positions before choosing the number of lamps.

Choose a sculptural focal point

If you prefer one connected design, explore the Circle of Life chandelier. Its organic frame and mouth-blown opal glass create a broad composition above a table or in a living area. Compare both the chandelier diameter and its visual weight with the room's furniture.

Consider the walls and ceiling

A tall room also benefits from light at different levels. Lilac Ø130 is a round cocoon wall and ceiling lamp that can become a large sculptural element. Its diameter is 130 cm and its depth is 36 cm. Consider how much space the lamp needs in relation to artwork, doors and furniture.

Check the installation before ordering

Measure the ceiling height, desired hanging position and distance to the power outlet. Check the exact variant's cord length, canopy and installation requirements in the product factsheet. For a high or sloping ceiling, have the fixing and access requirements assessed before installation. Lilac Ø130 is hardwired and made to order with an 8–12-week delivery time.
